The Journal of Professor Ivan Yvesky

Tome – Professor Ivan Yvesky was an eminent scholar of Irkusska. Unfortunately, he disappeared not long after the first revolution. One of his journals was found in the Royal Mansion that you inhabit.

Entry 1
Our outriders came across the bodies of a group of elves frozen in the snow. Inspecting their corpses they came across a crystal and a note which I have transcribed below …
The dragonfather seeks the shards and he has sent his death machine searching for them in earnest.
He knows not of the spirits beneath his court or the locations of the five, but he seeks them all in earnest.
Our emissaries with the rhulic moot became convinced the shard was no longer safe with the dwarves. Ties have been broken, Byn’va loh has passed, all ways are now closed.
Entry 2
What any of that meant I had no idea at first. I travelled to the library at Corvis (this despite the misgivings of the Cygnaran govt.) and found the following text “The wyrmsaga cycle” and began reading. What I have found is most exciting …
It would appear that “dragons” are continually born and reborn from the “Anthac” crystals much like the “Phoenix” from ancient mythology. What is more interesting, these Anthacs are shards of Toruk’s Anthac. That he gave “birth” to them over 4,000 years ago.
Entry 3
Upon examining the crystal I have discovered some of my earlier assumptions were wrong. This is NOT at dragon anthac . I have determined this by the arcane scientific formulas of one, Blameghast Rhinhurst, an esteemed arcane scientist whose work “Dragonfindings” I have found most useful. What the shard’s origins are I must find out!
Entry 4
I have compared the crystal shard to other crystals. i.e – the crystals powering warcaster armor, the “focus” crystals of the Fraternal Order of Wizardry, the “thoughtstones” used by Laelese court philosophers and none of them have been a match.
Entry 5
After months of research I have come to a singular conclusion: The shard is not of this world. It could only have been formed within a magical furnace the likes of which is not on this mortal world. I know this for the power within the crystal is so potent it could level this entire city if it were released. Fortunately I have no idea how that would be accomplished.
